Got Critters? Most growers tolerate wildlife passing through their property but concerns arise when damage from deer, bear, starlings, pocket gophers and other critters affect production and harvest. There are always different options for managing these species and some are more effective as well as environmentally sensitive. Margaret Holm will be discussing environmentally sustainable practices for wildlife management. Ticks and spiders are encountered as part of working outdoors. Learn about many of the myths and habits of our venomous local spiders and ticks Be Snake Smart! The southern Interior of BC has seven different snake species. Only one of these, the Western rattlesnake is venomous. You will learn how to identify snakes, reduce human-snake encounters in your vineyard, and safely relocate rattlesnakes. Local biologist Mike Sarell will have a rattlesnake on hand to show how to safely contain and move a snake. |
