ECOstudies Program

Explore local nature with your students!

The ECOstudies program is a network of environmental educators offering hands-on, interactive, and accessible programs. Students will develop their understanding and awareness of ecology in the South Okanagan and Similkameen valleys.

Three types of programs are offered:

In Class
During “In Class” programs, an educator will visit your classroom for a 1 to 1.5-hour interactive program. All programs are interactive and include visual and/or print material and lots of props.
In Nature
For an “In Nature” program, your class will meet an educator at a local natural area for a 1 to 1.5-hour outdoor field trip. Depending on the program, the site may be set or flexible. Teachers are responsible for transportation to outdoor sites.
In Community
“In Community” programs are special programs for dedicated classes that involve a hands-on stewardship component or encourage your students’ involvement in projects that contribute to their ecological and social communities.

Our programs are available to School Districts 53 and 67, First Nations schools, alternative schools, and home learners. Programming is also available to youth organizations such as Scouts, Girl Guides, Boys and Girls Clubs, etc…

The programs cover provincially required Prescribed Learning Outcomes for multiple subjects and are available to both Elementary grades (K-7) and Secondary grades (8-12).
